Married to an egytian after meeting twice.?

I am in a quandary and would like to hear the good and bad stories from anyone who has experience of marrying a Egyptian Muslim after meeting very briefly and arranging for them to live here. I would like to know as I am being told by the family member that I am wrong and this is all ok as they are in love. Am I too cynical or is this the new way to marry someone. I don't want to loose contact with this family member but I feel I should be honest and not accept anything blindly.
