What are the basic differences between Catholicism and Christianity?

Catholicism is a sect of Christianity. You have your Catholics, Your Orthodox, and your Protestant. Protestant didn't come on the scene until Martin Luther. He was a member of the Catholic church but broke away when he realized how corrupt it was. Guess everything comes full circle.
